SS16 Press Day

Although Spring/Summer 2016 seems so far away, for the fashion industry, preparation for next year’s magazines, photo shoots and blog posts are well underway. Our wonderful press team held an event in their London showroom to present our brand new styles, which was an absolute success!

The event took place on 18th November at the B Teams Head Office, welcoming more than 200 guests throughout the day. Set designer Yasmin Kurunis transformed the showroom into a chic inspired Moroccan haven, with cascading plants and pops of bright orange and blue.

Gails Artisan bakery catered the event with beautiful bowls of fresh fruits, granola and yogurts and smoothies followed by beautiful lunchtime salads, gourmet sandwiches and sweet afternoon treats. The B Team also made delicious double chocolate brownies. Nail Berry manicures were offered to all guests along with Sienna fake tan contour and sculpting demonstrations.

Apart from the delicious food there were also some very exciting new shoes on display! For SS16, we’ve got LOTS of new styles to show you!  We don’t want to give the game away but we’ve got the hottest new styles landing next season… think bright leathers, metallic and brand new silhouettes!

Keep your eyes peeled for the latest new footwear trends for women, men and kids!

The Frugality’s Guide to Ibiza

The wonderful Alex Stedman has just got back from the white isle we called home – Ibiza. AND we are over the moon that she had an amazing time and now knows the beautiful island is far more than mega clubs and beach bars but has a side to it that embraces a unique hippie culture with incredible scenery, amazing restaurants and lots of little hidden gems that are truly special.

If you want to find out more on the local offerings, insider places to visit and some delicious food recommendations from The Frugality herself, then carry on reading…

Firstly, the beaches in Ibiza are like nowhere else in the world. From sunsets at Benniras and Las Salinas to the soft, white sand at Es Cavallet and Cala Pada, each beach is very beautiful in their own, unique way.

Where to eat?

The Fish Shack, Talamanca.

This hidden gem on the island is the perfect little place to relax over lunch. Made up of beach chairs and located on the rocks by the sea where you can sit and watch the waves crashing against the coast. Offering no menu you sit and await their fish of the day. Not only is this exciting but it’s probably the best and freshest fish you’ll ever try – helped by the delicious Ibiza salt of course.

La Bodega, Ibiza Old Town

Located in the heart of the city, with beautiful views of the castle and pretty terrace, you can’t visit Ibiza without having classic Tapas from La Bodega. What used to be an ancient Ibicenco storehouse and a stable has now been transformed into a cozy restaurant and sparkling cocktail bar. Alex suggests the delicious Padron Peppers and Patatas Bravas – YUM!

Bar Anita

Up the road from Las Dalias, Bar Anita is known for being favoured by the resident hippies and artists in the 70s. Packed with great atmosphere no matter what time of day, serving great seafood, delicious pizzas and the best ailoli you will ever taste…

On the outskirts of Santa Gertrudis there’s a very special shop called Sluiz. It’s filled with bits and bobs from clothes, accessories, home décor and furniture as well as it’s own café and restaurant. This unique hub of kooky, humorous yet utterly tasteful products is definitely worth a visit! The only problem will have when going to Sluiz is your baggage allowance for your journey home!

Las Dalias

Ibiza’s most traditional hippie market will not disappoint you. Lots of stalls, locally made clothing and accessories along with some delicious juice bars and food stalls – a great place to collect a few really authentic, beautiful pieces to take home and cherish.

Dalt Vila

A trip to Dalt Vila in Ibiza Old town is an absolute must! The fortress is full of buzz, friendly locals with beautiful views over the cities.

Ibiza is known for its beautiful spas, retreats and locations for relaxation – who wouldn’t love this! It’s all about finding the perfect poolside with comfy sun loungers, Balearic beats and of course, a bar! Alex recommends: Sensatori Resort in Cala Tarida and ‘The Retreat’ spa.

Keep posted for further recommendations on Ibiza as there are so many places we want to share with you!

With love,

London Collections Men: SS16

This week saw the seventh London Collections Men take place over four days at various locations across the city, showcasing the best Britain has to offer in menswear. Between the catwalk shows, presentations, showrooms, extravagant parties and the streetwear seen around each venue, it was something for Britain and the fashion world to be truly proud of and something we were constantly inspired by.

London Collections Men is produced by the British Fashion Council and is the menswear alternative to London Fashion Week, although feels more raw and edgy. To quote the British Fashion Council “London Collections Men emphasises both the creative and commercial importance of British brands and emerging talent as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector.” With shows ranging from the most innovative up-and-coming young designers, to the global powerhouse brands, from the most eccentric and out-there outfits to more wearable pieces, it wasn’t to be missed.

With London being at the forefront of the fashion world, always pushing forward and offering young fashion creatives first class education and funding opportunities, it’s no wonder New York has decided to take our lead and will be running their own dedicated men’s fashion week next month.

Click here to see our own men’s collection which combines rugged distressed leather and a recycled tyre sole for a rustic twist on the classic Baleraic style. With two existing designs, a new design for SS15 dropping next week and an exclusive design for Office shoes available in-store and online, our men’s collection is growing and our SS16 update is already being worked on between our London designers and traditional factory in Menorca.

Coachella: Weekend One

You’ve gotta love the hippie feel of festival fashion.

What is it about Coachella that brings out so many exciting bohemian looks? Is it the music or the first glimpse of a promising summertime?

At Solillas, we are definitely feeling the vibes of the unconventional, fun-loving bohemian attitude – and the weather couldn’t be more perfect. Like our LA friends, creative individuals mixing pleasure and fashion for good times, our new collection of Menorcan sandals is mixing leather, metallic and flatforms.

While leather and crops tops were also taking stage at Coachella, both soothing and electric colours, cool hats, loose hair and clothes were clearing stating something: we are here to have fun.

Spring had made its way to us, from LA, the Balearic Islands to London and why not let ourselves be inspired for a bohochic look.

Here is a roundup of some of our favourites look from the first weekend:

Artística Inspiration

From all of our new and exciting designs for Spring/Summer 2015, Artística has to be one of our particular favourites.

Having explored the Balearic island of Ibiza many times, we are always greatly inspired by Benirrás Beach. One of the most iconic beaches on the island, it is surrounded by rocky hills covered with pine trees and renowned for its breath-taking sunsets.

Every Sunday a true Ibiza tradition takes place with the gathering of hippies playing the drums at this sunset. Hugely inspired by this magical setting, we decided to take that to the drawing board. Moving away from our classic leather we experimented with highly textured Aztec prints – which reflect the vibrancy and warmth we see and feel at Benirrás.

Bright, fun and full of energy, we know this detailed print will give any outfit that brave bohemian edge.
