Ibiza Opening Parties 2015

Last weekend saw the opening of three of the most important venues on the White Isle, Ushuaia, Space and Amnesia – it’s safe to say that the clubbing season has well and truly begun! All of them laid on the huge spectacles you would expect to kick the season off with a bang.

DJ highlights from Ushuaia, the playful and glamorous open roof club in Playa d’en Bossa, included The Martinez Brothers, strong female DJs Maya Jane Coles B2B with Kim-Ann Foxman and Catz ‘n Dogz. The incredible line-up combined with the stunning location, fabulous dancers and laser shows, all made for an epic party.

Just down the road at Space, often referred to as the best club in the world, they obviously laid on the best party in the world with their Space Opening Fiesta which included 37 artists, playing in six rooms for over 18 hours of partying! Luciano’s two sets were the headline event, with Sasha and Groove Armada also highlights. BE-AT-TV were video streaming some of the performances, with Ibiza Sonica and Ibiza Global Radio broadcasting some of the sets too.

Amnesia put on a party like only they know how, not kicking off until midnight on Saturday night and going long into Sunday where the revellers continued partying on the terrace under the Eivissa sunshine. DJ highlights included the headline set from Maceo Plex, as well as Eats Everything, Hot Since 82, Richy Ahmed.

Through our never-ending love for Ibiza and its amazing party scene, we’ve taken inspiration from the legendary opening parties, as well as the glamorous beach club bars and the unforgettable evening cocktails along the sunset strip in San Antonio.

Day or night, we know a high shine metallic piece will add instant Balearic glam to any outfit. Whether it’s our eye-catching iridescent Bora, luxurious gold Cavallet or statement Cobre Flatforms, these sandals are a must-have summer style statement that will have you shimmering and shining from beach to bar.

DIY Gold Dipped Feathers

Used as table decorations, attached to string and wrapped around presents or hung from the ceiling, gold feathers are popping up everywhere this winter!

What do you need?

  • Feathers
  • Gold paint
  • Glitter

unnamed (8)

1. Place the feathers in a a neat line. If you’re doing quite a few, it may be a good idea to place some masking tape along the feathers to secure them and to stop them moving.unnamed

2. Get the gold paint ready and carefully paint the tips of the feathers. Depending on how gold you want the feathers relies on how thickly you place the paint on. The thicker you make it the more glitter you can add!

3. Now it’s time to sprinkle on the glitter! Remember, this has to be done as soon as you’ve painted the tips – the paint has to be wet for the glitter to stick.unnamed (2)

4. Now you just need to wait for the feathers to dry before you start making them into beautiful decorations!

A kindred spirit … Dominique Sanson

We first came across Dominique’s beautiful and dreamy artworks at one our favourite Ibizan retaurants, Bambuddah Grove. Inhabitants and venues across our beloved island have commissioned his work and it’s easy to see why.

Hailing from and studying in France, Dominique moved to Ibiza more than 30 years ago, a place where he felt he could “share his thoughts with kindred spirits” and where he has grown a deep love for the island and its inhabitants.

Much of his work focuses on the different cultures dominating Ibiza throughout history, and the rich variety of people who have come to its shores. One of his most famous collections, The History of Ibiza is made up of a series of 20 pieces taking you from I – Evolution to XX – Modern Times and features everyone from the Phoenicians to the Carthaginians to the hippies. You are also just as likely to find modern day clubbers in his work. ‘Ibiza Party’, set in San Antonio in the 00’s even includes Noel and Liam Gallagher.

If you could ever get lost in a painting, it’s here – so it’s not surprising that he states his dreams are a constant source of inspiration. Indulgent, fantastical, mysterious and often lustful – here are some of our favourites…

Atzaró Art Auction – Eivissa Animal Center

CHAPTER – Balearic Cat

Ibiza has long been celebrated as a haven for artists, so what better way to raise funds for an ibithencan charity than an art auction at the spiritual Atzaró hotel.

Over the past few days, works from some of Ibiza’s legendary and emerging artists have been on display in preparation for the charity auction at 8pm this evening (Thursday 28 August) in aid of the Eivissa Animal Center.

The Eivissa Animal Center will provide a veterinary clinic for the animals of Ibiza and house Care 4 Cats Ibiza. Care 4 Cats deals with the mass neutering of stray, abandoned and feral cats that roam the streets, countryside and tourist resorts. An action that over time will decrease the stray cat population and protect the islands wildlife. With over 13,500 procedures carried out in the last 13 years, Care 4 Cats now requires its’ own treatment facilities in order to reduce costs and enable work to continue.

Whether you’re a animal lover or not, the auction provides a great overview of the talent nurtured on the Island. Here are a few of our favourites …
